What is a Labour Welfare Fund?

Hi JagoInvestor,

Recently in my salary slip my employer has deducted Rs.6/- towards “labour Welfare Fund”. Please give some clarity about this fund and what are the benefits of this fund so that employee can utilize? Currently I am working with an IT-firm at bangalore.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks
