Income Tax Refund

Hi

How long does IT take to process refunds..?? I am expecting some refunds from the 2010-11 FY returns. It was filed offiline in assm year 2011-12.

Also, when I enquired in the NSDL site for ITax, it is displaying the message that “Your assessing officer has not sent this refund to Refund Banker”. My IT auditor tells me that he has checked recently with the IT dept and the refund instruction has been sent by them to SBI and SBI generally takes 1-6 months to refund. He also informs me that the NSDL site is not updated regularly and so not to depend on that site.

I am totally confused. How do I find out the status then ?? Please help.

    I think once you file the RTI to find out the status , those guys will wake up and do the extra work for you and settle it fast 🙂

    Hello,
    It takes 3-6 months to process and come into your Bank Account (Online and not Chequeue) i have got returns just under 6 months. I too filed Online.

    I dont think SBI would take 1 to 6 months for passing the buck to us.

    I get refunds each year from previous years when I least expect it (read when I have forgotten all about it!)
    Watched kettles don’t boil!
    If it is rightfully due to you and if you don’t have any tax arrears it will come to you. Else it will be adjusted with tax arrears and sent (if anything is left!)
