If the US deafults, do our FDs remain safe?

POSTED BY vijay ON October 17, 2013 2:56 pm COMMENTS (3)

If the US defaults, we can expect the stocks/funds to get re-jiggled, but what about the safety of our FDs? Is there a reason to worry about it, particularly for those whose FD amounts might be greater than the insured limit (Rs.1 lakh in Indian banks & 100 grand in the US banks)?

Thanks,

Vijay

Thanks Ashal for your continued insights. For now anyway these guys seem to be dilly-dallying and have postponed their decision making to another day!

Dear Vijay, no reason to worry as settlement has already reached there. Just for sake of your query, NO, on immediate basis, there is no threat to your FDs. The threat may become reality only if the total banking sector of India collapse.

    Thanks

    Ashal
