ICICI harassment

Dear Sir

I have a friend named Shashi in Mumbai who has not paid his credit card dues. When he travelled to Bangalore (my place), he had given my land line number to his wife for communication. When the Bank people approached her, she has given this number. Now my friend has returned to Mumbai and not taking the calls from the Bank but the Bank people are calling me daily asking me to inform my friend to pay his dues. I keep telling them that I am in no way connected to his transactions but they threaten me that I am hiding my friend here in Bangalore.

Should I send a legal notice to the Bank, please advise.

  2. Dear K S Balaji, I can understand your plight. Another option for you is to approach the local banking ombudsman. Put in all the details in a simple application mentioning the phone nos. from where these calls are coming & make ICICI Bank a party in your application. This ombudsman thing ‘ll work for you surely.

    Thanks

    Ashal

Even after following justgrowmymoney’s advice if you keep getting calls, then please visit the ICICI credit card division in bangalore and discuss this issue with the manager there. We also got such calls, but for different issue from ICICI credit card. So visiting the bank and making a formal complaint/clarification to the manager there solved the problem. Please try it as I know how phone calls can be harassing for something out of our control.

  4. Next time they call tell them that the call is being recorded and that you will submitting a written complaint with this proof to TRAI for:

    1) Unsolicited calling
    2) Harassment on the phone

Act knowledgeable and tell that person on the call that ICICI will fire him/her from their job if they comes to know that person is undertaking such tactics. Chances are the person calling will be very junior in the organization to even know how things work in the bank. This strategy should work.

I only hope no recovery agents visit this forum and read this!
