How withdraw from an inoperative EPF account ?

POSTED BY Jipal Shah ON November 27, 2013 6:45 pm COMMENTS (9)

I have an old EPF account year 2005-2006. After 2006 I joined another company and not transferred/withdrew the EPF amount.
Yesterday when I checked the account online, I got below message.

“Your Account has been marked as In-operative Account. For details please contact respective EPF Office.”

I am staying in Pune, this account number starts from “PY/KRP/00***/000/*******” looks like account in Karnataka-PEENYA.
I want to withdraw the amount, can you please tell me how should I proceed?

Thanks !

EPFO launched its Online Transfer Claim Portal (OTCP) on Oct 2, 2013 to ensure timely transfer of EPF account from one employer to another when an employee changes job. You can read our article Transfer EPF account online : OTCP to see your employers are listed .

Is this transfer applicable for in-operative account also? I have checked the eligibility of transfer online its green.
But, I am preferring to withdraw, by any chance is it possible to withdraw amount from in-operative account?

      Thank you.
