ONHi,
I took a health insurance policyfor my father aged 60 years..the policy is Star health Red carpet policy. While taking the policy,I have mentioned that he has prexisting disease “Diabetes-Mellitus’.I am aware that diabetes related complications will be covered after 1 year of taking the policy.Within the policy document, below has been written
Pre-existing diseases as on date of commencement of first year policy Coverage
—————————————————————————————- ————
Preceding 12 months NIL 2nd year onwards
Beyond preceding 12 months Diabetes and related complications 1st year onwards.
What is “Preceding 12 months” and “Beyond Preceding 12 months”?
Can someone please explain to me these clauses.

Hi Ashal and Mahavir,
I am not fully clear yet. There is no mention of “medication” for diabetes in the wording that I mentioned..is this thing implicit ? The wording is as below
Pre-existing diseases as on date of commencement of first year policy Coverage
—————————————————————————————- ————
Preceding 12 months NIL 2nd year onwards
Beyond preceding 12 months Diabetes and related complications 1st year onwards.
Dear Phani, I do hope the answer given by medimanage is able to clear your doubts. Please confirm if you still have any doubts.
thanks
Ashal
