I am in need of a locker facility in madurai. I searched everywhere and found that the locker is available only in a HDFC bank. But the employee there asked me to opt for CREST plan after only which they could provide me a locker. I insisted to go for Fixed Deposit but she did not agree. She says that CREST will offer me a guaranteed return of 15% interest pa which is quite higher than fixed deposit. Buut i dont believe that to be true. Please suggest

HDFC is a bank of repute and as a matter of policy, some bank/branches lockers are attached with schemes like IOB lockers are attached with 20K FD but certainly they don’t promise you wrong returns or misguide you. So, best thing is talk to branch manager and get things cleared.
Same thing was asked by SBI manager in B’lore. This stupid manager asked me to take a policy of min premium 1 L to get the locker. I don’t know where to complain and kept quiet and approached SBM got the locket after opening an FD for 1 L for 3 Yrs.
You can do one thing:
1. Fill up the form of HDFC Crest (the minimum amount). And SIMULTANEOUSLY open up your locker.
2. when you get the policy in hand, send it back within 15 days personally to HDFC Life.
you may lose some money in interest for that many days. but this is, you can say, the last-ditch effort!

Its a misselling .. No plans have guaranteed return like they are promising .. There has been cases where banks employees sell these kinds of products for thier own benefit . WHat i would suggest you is , next time you go there , keep your mobile on record mode and capture all these talks which you do with them .

Its a unit linked plan and a minimum NAV of 15 is guaranteed. Its not 15% guarantee 🙂
