ONHi to all.
I had earlier sought help on constructing SIP portfolio. Have now come up with a tentative final list-
1. Quantum long term equity
2. Templeton india equity income
These two seem to complement each other well.
3. Franklin india prima plus
4. PPFAS long term value
These two seem to complement each other. Initially I was not in favour of PPFAS (as it is NFO), but they seem to be keeping their head above water. Also taking comfort from the fact that they have come up with only one fund.
Plan equal allocation in each fund.
Inputs please. I know that it would suffice to keep either (1 & 2) or (3 & 4) but could not bring myself to drop either.
Would love comments.(please dont be irritated as this is my 3rd post on this subject).
Tks,
Kuntal.

Hi Karthik,
Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi Karthik,
Thanks for you suggestion.
Kuntal.
Dear Kuntal, If you are following me here in forum, I have declared my investments several in terms of the funds I’m investing in. HT200 & QLTEF are ongoing ones. I do have some investments in FIBCF & Rel. Gr. also.
Thanks
Ashal
Hi Ashal,
Thanks for replying. I do follow you closely in this forum, so I am sorry if I did no realise your SIPs were in these 2 funds only.
Kuntal.
Go with QLTE and Franklin Blue chip.
each to his own. u prefer large + midcap. I prefer multicap. Core & satellite is only arbitrary. BTW, most of the mutual funds I plan to hold consist of bluechip stocks.
Tks,
Kuntal.
See the market can be highly polarized sometimes (specially now), and only well known good quality stocks does well then. And Indian equity market largely dependent on FII flows – and FIIs mostly choose bluechip stocks. Keeping all these analysis aside, the point is that every category (be it large cap, diversified, small-mid, debt or gold ) has its own advantages and place in a portfolio. While Large cap and large-mid cap funds should form the core of your portfolio, and small-mid cap funds can bring aggressive growth with a bit of risk.
Hi Sumit, Thanks for replying.
From what I understand, if I invest in multicaps; fund manager will have freedom to allocate wherever he wants. eg HDFC top 200 + HDFC midcap = 2* HDFC equity.
So, 2 multicaps = 2 largecaps + 2 midcaps.
This is what I gathered (of course I may be wrong).
Of course one must choose the company with care (preferably process & research oriented), and the funds must be consistently above average performers (not top 3 or 5 in one year & bottom 3 or 5 in another).
Tks,
Kuntal.
Why not considering 1 large cap like ICICI Pru focused blue chip/ Franklin India Blue chip
and 1 mid-small cap like IDFC Premier Eq / SBI Emerging Business ?
Hi All,
Any Volunteers!!!
Tks,
Kuntal.
Thanks Ashal, for taking such personal interest in each question.
Personally I like Franklin as AMC (process & research oriented, not flashy despite large AUM). Hence want to retain at least 1 of the 2 Franklin funds. And if u were given a choice between Quantum & PPFAS, which would it be?
BTW, a question I had long wanted to ask-
NO OF & NAME OF MUTUAL FUNDS IN WHICH OUR EXPERTS INVEST (NOT AMOUNT).
Wanted to know if they practice what they preach (just joking).
Hopefully this is not too personal a question.
Tks,
Kuntal.
Dear Kuntal, Any set is OK. personally I’m ok if you opt only 1 fund may be QLTEF or PPFAS.
Thanks
Ashal
Dear Kuntal, where did you get the fund no. 3? I’m unavble to locate it?
Thanks
Ashal
Sorry Ashal,
Please read this as Franklin india Prima plus. Have rectified my mistake.
Tks,
Kuntal.
