Debt selection for STP for duration of 5 years

POSTED BY Amol Patgaonkar ON December 30, 2013 5:55 pm COMMENTS (8)

I want to invest 5L in debt fund and do STP of 5K per month in equity MF. Can you suggest type of  debt fund (Liquid, Income, dynamic, gilt) to select. Considering 5 years duration will dynamic bond or long term gilt fund will be better?

Thanks,

Amol

Dear Amol, if you are not comfortable with lump sum investment, spread your money over next 2-3-6 months but do note, if you ar going to spread the term to 5-6Y, less time ‘ll be available to perform.

    Thanks

I am not comfortable in investing lump sum amount in equities. I have been doing SIP since past 6yrs and was thinking of achieving it by going through STP from debt to Equity. If you think that considering my investment tenure i.e 15 yrs, if lump sum investment would be a good option, please let me know.

Dear Amol, why do you not opting for single lump sum investment?

    Thanks

    Dear Ashal,

I am investing one go in debt instrument and going to do STP per month from that fund to equity fund.
    Is this approach not correct?

    Thanks,
    Amol

Dear Amol, if the goal is 15Y away, why do you not invest all in one go?

    Thanks
