ONRecently, I used my ICICI bank “debit card” at a fuel station to buy petrol of INR 1500/-. After two days of this transaction, I came to know that, the bank has charged service fee of INR 42/- in addition to actual transaction amount of INR 1500/-. When I enquired with customer care of bank, they told me that, this charge has been levied by VISA and not by bank. How, a bank can support this kind of practice for usage of debit cards at outlets ? If anybody has gone through this kind, please let me know, how to deal with the bank?

Swaroop

Dear Hemanth, please check with ICICI for update on the same. As per my past knowledge, all were eligible.

@Ashal : Are all debit cards of ICICI are eligible for it, or specific debit cards ??

Hemanth.
Dear Swaroop, ICICI do have tie up with HP, so next time, while using your debit card for refueling, please opt for a HP petrol pump.
Thanks

This is called surcharge and it is applicable on debit cards at fuel stations . Some banks give a wavier of this on some credit cards.
