My recommendation (after facing a lot of NRI Clients) is – please take it from your country of residence. You will face a massive challenge from Indian insurance companies. Majority of their sales staff won’t be aware if they can sell such a product to NRIs. And at the time of claim, they may shy away referring to some terms & conditions.

  2. Dear Karpagrajan, not many insurer in India ‘ll offer term cover to NRI. Please check with individual insurer directly. It’s advisable to purchase term cover from your country of current residence.

    Thanks

    Ashal

  3. Yes you can. But it makes sense to buy insurance in the country of residence unless you want to come back. If death occurs in country of residence, depending on nature of death claim processing will be delayed.
