Hi,

Is BSL Dividend Yield Plus a good fund to invest? Though it has close to 40% of its portfolio in mid and small cap companies, Valueresearch online has rated the risk grade as “LOW’ and Return grade is rated as ‘HIGH’. CRISIL has given rank 1. Morning star has given 5 star rating. It has high expense ratio of 2.32.

Can one consider this fund as a part of core portfolio?

This type of funds mostly invest in good dividend yield stocks which is best suited to those who want decent returns with good downside protection. it is best suited for the conservative type of investor for whom capital protection is utmost important. 80% of the portfolio (not 40%) are invested in mid and small cap. If u dont have any other midcap funds in ur portfolio, then this fund is good bet. Try to restrict midcap fund exposure to 10-15% of ur portfolio.

    Happy investing 🙂

  2. Considering the high expense ratio, and less AUM, I won’t suggest that. Look at DSP Blackrock Small & Mid Cap. This also gives good returns & will be a suitable choice for long-term portfolio.

    Hope it will help you.
