Adding a newborn to existing health insurance

What is the procedure to add a newborn to an existing health insurance policy? Do we have to notify the company before the birth? Will there be change in the premium? Kindly provide details. ( I have a Star Health Family Health Optima policy).

For a family floater policy, a child has to be 3 months or 5 months old to be included in most of the policies. A few policies like that of Max Bupa and Apollo give insurance to newborns too.
In your existing policy, you can add your baby from next renewal. It is difficult to add a newborn in between two renewals. For exact information contact the company directly.

Also remember, most of the diseases in newborns and infants are usually congenital (these are exceptions in health insurance policies!).
    hope this helps you.
