Add on/Supplementary Credit Cards and Credit Rating

I have a question related to Add-on cards offered by Credit card companies. Most of the Credit cards offer “free” supplementary cards for your wife/Parents etc. During the application process, they ask for the PAN number of the “secondary Applicants”  as well. Now, my question is, if the primary card holder fails to pay up the dues, will the credit rating of the supplementary card holders be impacted as well?

I got the information from the CIBIL site itself –

CIBIL will continue to report all information as submitted by the Credit Institutions. An authorized user means that you have been issued an “add-on” card by the credit card’s primary owner. It is important to note that the primary card holder is responsible for payments on charges incurred on both the primary and add-on credit cards issued. If the primary card holder defaults on any payments, this will be reflected as a default on the Credit Information Reports of both primary and add-on card holders.

So, be careful before getting add on cards. Your mistakes might be reflected on your family members as well!
