Query on income tax exemption on LTA for travel by Air

POSTED BY Umashankar ON March 22, 2015 11:53 pm ONE COMMENT

As far as my knowledge, if someone travels by air during LTA, he can claim the airfare by national carrier (like Air India) only. What happens if he travels by a private airline (like Jet or Indigo)? What happens if there is no Air India flight in the route where he travels during LTA? Please clarify this issue.

  1. You can claim the airfare of an economy class . There is no distinction that you will get only air India fare (their rates are anyways on higher side) .
