Can I claim tax benefits for 3 yrs , if I pay 3 yr premiums in one go in health insurance ?

Hi guys,

I wanted to ask that if I buy a 3-yr health insurance policy this year, can I claim tax rebate for the next 2 years also? If I buy 1-yr policies each year then the rebate is applicable, not sure if the same holds for a 3-yr policy when I am paying the 3 years’ premium together in one payment.

Please share your thoughts on this.

    Dear Ashish, the prem. is available for tax benefit only in the year of actual payment. So in your case, it’ll be 1st year only. Next 2Y, no benefit.
