All the index options are European and all the stock options are American style in India , you can see the contract name , it will be either PA,CA or PE,CE , E and A tells you what style it is .

You can buy/sell both of them in market any time , means you can buy them today and sell them after 1 min , hour , day … anytime

Exercising is a differernt thign , it means settle ment with the writer of the option .

Broker : you can say which broker is good , I use ICICIDIRECT , is has high charges , but i like there UI and site . you can also try REliance Money or Geojit .

I would recommend to read the NCFM derivatives module material . even though you dont want to give exam , just read it for knowledge , its available in soft copy format on net . try searching for it .
NSE is the only exchage which has options .

in India what is style of options used i.e american/european? i.e I can buy and sell anytime (American style) or I can only buy/sell initially and then have to wait for expiry to close my position with a sell/buy?

1. You hace spend understanding markets for atleast 2 yrs .

2. You have traded normal stocks for 1 yrs .

3. You have done option tradind in paper for atleast 6 months .

If you do options trading without above suggestions you will loose like anything (like me)
